Burdur Sagalassos Ancient City

The first traces of settlement in the city date back 12,000 years. In the early 13th century AD, life in the city ended when the Seljuks destroyed the last Byzantine military fortress. Sagalassos is one of the best-preserved ancient cities in Anatolia. At the entrance to the city, there is a courtyard and halls of a city mansion as large as a palace. In the lower part of the city, the Great Roman Imperial Bath dominates. Around the lower agora, the remains of the Agora Fountain, the Temple of Apollo Klarios, and the Hadrian Fountain can be found. Around the upper agora, many monuments have been uncovered and restored to their original state.
